Winter Bird Feeding Event (February 11th)!
God’s children help God’s creatures! Come to Camp Selah to feed the birds!
In much of North America, winter is a difficult time for birds. Days are often windy and cold; nights are long and even colder. The lush, berry-laden vegetation of summer and fall has withered or been consumed, and most insects have died or become dormant. Finding food can be especially challenging for birds during days with extreme cold temperatures.
Join us for our Annual Winter Bird Feeding, Saturday, February 11th, from 2pm – 5pm.
This event is perfect for:
* Children’s Church Groups
* Local Boy and Girl Scouts
* Elementary School Children’s Groups
* Families looking for a great nature-oriented event to work on together
Each child will:
* Make an eco-friendly (peanut free) bird feeder!
* Learn about local birds, their habitats, and needs!
* Hang their bird feeder on Camp Selah’s 37 acres!
* Enjoy hot chocolate, marshmallows, and cookies by the fire!
All supplies provided. We are requesting a $2 donation per child to cover the expenses of the event.

The Water Flows at Selah! (Once Again)
What can you accomplish when you add one group of 30 hard working individuals and a healthy dose of intense dedication? You make miracles happen, that’s what! And that’s just what happened on Saturday, January 7th, when a group of men, women and children set out to begin the improvement plan to Camp Selah in preparation for its opening in early Spring. The first order of business was to build a new pump house, move the existing pumps to their new home, and then assemble it all and pray the water would once again flow. Late in the day, when all of these elements had been accomplished, the switch was flipped, and water began to move through the system. With everyone holding their breath…… the most beautiful of sights – CAMP SELAH’S WATER SYSTEM WAS ONCE AGAIN FUNCTIONAL! What a joyous moment for everyone.

While the experts were working on the water system, others were helping to clear paths by cutting and splitting felled trees on the
property. At the end of the day, enough wood had been cut, split and stacked to keep quite a few campfires going this Spring. There’s
plenty more wood to cut, that’s for sure, but there’s also two very large stacks of prepped wood to show for the efforts of those helping on this gorgeous Saturday morning and afternoon.
Please consider joining us for our next “Camp Selah Work Day”. We’ll make announcements on our FaceBook page, as well as update our Calendar of Events page here.
