Summer Camps

Combining nature, the expressive arts, recreation and stories of Scripture, children’s bodies, minds and spirits are nurtured and encouraged at Camp Selah. Our goal is to allow God's creation and the unconditional, creative environment of camp help children have fun, form new friendships and experience God's love in new ways. Selah's professional camp staff prepares and leads camp activities designed to encourage children’s individual creativity and offer opportunities for collaboration and shared experiences.

Summer 2017 includes a Primary camp, Elementary camp and Performing Arts camp (middle school). Regardless of background, family circumstances, religious affiliation, race or national origin, we are committed to providing a place where every camper will feel welcomed, respected and loved. We invite your child to join us at Camp Selah for an unforgettable weekend!

camp activities

Every camp includes nature hikescreek-walkingswimming, amazing art activities, archeryvolleyball—and four-square is everywhere. We catapault all kinds of things (well, not the kids). Campers love the nightly campfires with s'mores, crazy skits and grand storytelling. This year we are thrilled to have guest staff from the Virginia Museum of Natural History to help us explore natural springs and even a real beaver den. On Saturday nights, Southside Wildlife Rescue will release formerly-injured animals into our habitats.

CAMP STAFF

Camper safety is a top priority at Camp Selah. We maintain a 1:6 staff-to-child ratio and all children’s camps are limited to 24 campers, allowing for lots of individual attention. Children are supervised at all times by professional adult staff members; each group of three campers is also assigned a super-cool high school "camp buddy" for the weekend.

All staff members are screened with a careful process which includes personal interviews, references and a national criminal background check. Camp sleeping quarters are separated by gender; camp buddies and at least two non-related adults sleep in The Ark with the campers.  All bath and shower facilities are private for individual use.
